CLUB NEWS AND EVENTS
Hello fellow woodworkers: Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. Since our last meeting in November we have had many new members and we now have 26 woodworkers! This is very exciting news for our group. I am sure that once we get the word out and list ourselves on the POA website there will be many more interested and talented St. James woodworkers wanting to join.
WEBSITE AND MEMBERSHIP FORM/DUES
Fred Walters has been busy on the St. James Woodworkers Website. Thank you Fred for all your hard work on this important part of our club. Members can visit the site at stjameswoodworkers.org. Also on the website you will find the membership form. Please fill it out and send to Wayne Kruger along with your $25.00 membership dues for 2020 (make check payable to Wayne Kruger). If you have already paid your dues, please fill out the form and send it to me so I can have your information. In addition, you can bring your completed form to the January meeting.
JANUARY 2020 MEETING/FIELD TRIP
Our next meeting will be held at 5:30 on Tuesday, January 21st at Torrie Dinyovsky’s Shop, Marsh Point Enterprises, Inc. at 4705 Southport-Supply Road, #301-302. (Next to Sentry Storage). To date we have 17 members attending. This field trip will be in lieu of our January meeting. Torrie will give us a tour of the shop and review services they provide. These services are available to our members. We will also take a few minutes during this time to update everyone on the progress our group has made to date. Website, meetings, membership, and dues, etc. Please send an RSVP if you will attend to Gary Mlynek, at garymlynek@gmail.com. We need to get Torrie a headcount no later than January 17th. She has generously offered to supply refreshments.
Following this meeting there will be a social hour afterwards at Bella Cucina, just down the road at 5177 Southport-Supply Rd.
FEBRUARY MEETING
Mark your calendar for our meeting on Tuesday, February 11th at 3:00 p.m. at the St James Community Center. We will be in one of the meeting rooms immediately on your right as you enter the front door. There will be a sign on the room to let you know where we are meeting.
At this meeting we will be discussing the club structure, volunteers for various positions including, communications, field trip coordinator, secretary, speaker coordinator, volunteer projects coordinator (Veterans flag boxes, St. James Library shelving, Toys for Tots, etc.), and any other areas the group feels we need. We are planning on a guest speaker as well.
Bring your show-and-tell projects or photos.
I will send out an agenda prior to the meeting. We will update everyone on the progress of the cub as well as get volunteer hosts for our monthly Tuesday meetings. These will likely be held in driveways/garages/shops and other locations as dictated by weather.
TELL US MORE
We invite all members to send Fred Walters photos and either a caption or brief writeup of your project to be posted on our website. Please send submissions to fredcwalters@gmail.com anytime.
